Winter is here alright and the dry skin is setting in. Here are a few of the most important tips I can give you to combat dry skin, keep it hydrated, smooth, and healthy during these cold months.
Before I tell you the external remedies that I love and personally follow, I want to make a special note of the importance of hydrating from within. You need to be drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day. Your skin and your entire body will thank you!
Body Oil: No, I don’t mean baby oil. I mean oils that are made with natural ingredients like coconut and essential oils. While my skin is still damp after a shower, not wet but just damp, I rub the oil all over my body and my skin just soaks it up. My favorite brand for body oil is BeautyCounter. They make their products all natural, no parabens or chemicals. Not joking…checkout their Never List.
Hand Lotion: After washing your hands, always apply lotion. My grandmother told me this when I was a kid and I never forgot it and have made it a habit ever since.
Water: A warm shower is a must in this cold weather, but avoid hot water. Warm water is alright, but the hot water will dry out the skin.
Night Cream: I keep a jar next to my bed to make sure my skin is not dry before I get a night’s rest. I love the night cream from Doterra. It contains essential oils like Frankincense, which has natural healing remedies.
You can purchase Frankincense from Doterra (and all other products) through me at wholesale price right here! I also use Lavender drops in my hand lotions for extra
moisture and rejuvenation.
Exfoliation: Twice a week I use an exfoliation pad on my face to get rid of any dry, dull, or dead skin. My favorite is Dr. Dennis Gross’ exfoliation pads.
Moisturize: Moisturize a clean face with fig seed oil. This can be expensive, but 100% worth it. Your face is important and it’s essential that you take care of it. Following the oil, use a daily moisturizer that contains SPF 15 or greater. You’ve got to protect that gorgeous face from the Sun!
